This is my little horse, Casper, all ready for his first drive of the season. He was a little rusty but so was I and he did great. It's quite fun and I love to drive him so if anyone wants to join me sometime just say the word and we can even come to you!

Well let's see here, Switzerland does present a little bit of a problem. If we start now we might make it the california border sometime after you have left! He does like to swim by the way but only in lakes. :-)

I guess about the best I can offer is if you ever make it up to Washington, drop me a note!

Do my mind me asking what you are doing jet setting all over the world? You don't have to tell me I am just curious.

Ah yes...the horse I've heard so much about. How much can Casper pull?

Minis can pull on average 500-1,000 lbs. depending on their size and what kind of shape they are in. Casper can easily pull 500-700 pounds, when he is in shape. (right now 350-400 is ok since he is out of shape) This means two adults are a comfortable weight. Interesting enough size for size minis are stronger than draft horses because they are so low to the ground and have gravity on their side. Minis were originally brought to america to work in the coal mines because they are short but strong. (that of course depends on the size of the mini. Once they starting getting uner 25-27 in. they are not usually used for driving. Caper is 33in. at the shoulder.) I used to drive him 6-7 mi. with two adults all the time when we lived about 3.5 mi. from Everson and I would drive him in to run errands. He is not super fast but trots at about the speed of moderate jogging as a general rule.
Long answer to a short question...sorry!

Adorable!

Is Virginia too far away? He wouldn't have to swim. ;-)

I could bring him over sometime if you think that would work out. I will be gone the last week of this month but let me know what you think... if you really want to see him and weren't jsut being polite!

Rebekah,
I am free either Monday, Tues, or Friday evening of this week and Mon. Tues. and Thurs. evening of next week. Of course Sunday is fine with me as well. Let me know if there is one of those evenings that might work out for you and I can bring him over. I will be gone from the 20th to the 30th so if nothing works out in the next couple of weeks we can try again in June. Let me know...Just call me so I know what you are thinking!
