Life

"Life is so full of meaning and purpose,
so full of beauty-
beneath it's covering...
Courage, then, to claim it...
and the knowledge that are pilgrims together,
wending our way
through unknown county,
home."
Fra Giovanni

I got this poem at the conference I attended today and I know nothing about the author. It was applied to caregiving in this situation but thought how apropo it also is for our Christian walk. We really are wandering through an unknown land, one that is not to be our home, and yet beneath the death, saddness and pain that we encounter there is much joy and beauty there for the taking...if we keep our eyes directed on the Pillar of True Light from whence we truely derive our purpose and meaning.

Not to ignore the lovely poem (thanks for sharing it!) but that last sentence of yours ("We really are wandering . . .") is positively breathtaking. It's so . . . so true, and so well-stated. So often when it is said that "this world is not our home," the "joy and beauty" that is here is forgotten or ignored. You expressed the harmony of the two so well (as did the poem, of course!). :-)
